The problem with foldable phones is that they are generally pretty expensive. Take a look at the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 which costs close to the $2,000 mark. Thankfully, it seems that the upcoming OnePlus Open could be a more affordable alternative for those who favor the form factor.
This is based on a post by tipster Yogesh Brar who claims that the OnePlus Open could cost under ₹1.2L, which after conversion is roughly around $1,450. Compared to other foldables in the same league, this puts the OnePlus Open around $300 cheaper, but then again, we should note that direct conversions don’t always work out as the handset could be priced differently when it hits the US (and other) market.
Out of all brands, OnePlus has the strongest lineup this year
– Nord CE 3 Lite : Under ₹20k
– Nord CE 3 : Under ₹30k
– Nord 3 : Under ₹40k
– OnePlus 11R : Under ₹50k
– OnePlus 11 : Under ₹60k
– OnePlus Open : Under ₹1.2L

That being said, we’re not too sure about the specs of the phone yet and if there might be some kind of compromise OnePlus had to make to bring its price lower than the competition. So far the rumors are suggesting that we could be looking at top-of-the-line hardware like the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 12GB of RAM, 120Hz refresh rates for its display, and so on, stuff you might expect from a flagship in 2023.
In any case we’ll have to wait for the official announcement to find out more, but don’t hold your breath just yet as there have been rumors suggesting that due to QC issues, the phone’s launch might have been postponed.
