The problem with foldable phones is that due to the additional moving parts like its hinge, it creates more durability issues and one more thing users need to worry about. Samsung has recently launched its brand new Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphone which goes up against competitors like Motorola’s Razr Plus.
If you’re deciding which phone to get, then you might be interested in checking out the video below by YouTuber Mrkeybrd. In the video, they basically pit the Motorola Razr Plus against the Flip 5 in a hinge durability test to see which will break first. This is a live video that is still ongoing at this time of writing, with both phones clocking in at a little over 49,000 folds.
What’s interesting is that so far, the Motorola Razr Plus is the first to run into issues. The video notes that at the 43.8k mark, there was an issue with the Motorola hinge. The phone is still operable and usable and it hasn’t broken yet, but it was the first to display signs of a problem.
This doesn’t mean that the Flip 5 will be the confirmed winner. There’s always a chance that the phone could break before the Motorola, but we’ll have to wait and see. The Flip 5 does feature a brand new Flex Hinge design, so it remains to be seen if it will be able to last longer than the competition.
