Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 finally supports WiFi 6E
For the uninitiated, there are actually different versions of WiFi, where over the years, new features and improvements have been introduced to the wireless protocol, making it faster, more stable, have a longer range, and so on.
That being said, for some reason, Samsung has not included the latest WiFi 6E version in previous models of the Galaxy Z Flip phones, even though the company introduced it in the Galaxy S21 Ultra few years ago, but thankfully that has changed with the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Samsung’s latest foldable.
The Flip 5 is the first phone in its series to officially support WiFi 6E. For those wondering what the difference is, WiFi 6 operates on the 6GHz band instead of the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands found on previous versions. One of the benefits is that the 6GHz band isn’t as congested, which on paper means users can expect lower latency amongst other things.
For the most part, we’re not sure if this will be as noticeable in the real world. This is because there are many things that can affect internet speed, like the number of users using the network, the router model and its hardware, and of course, your internet plan and ISP’s capabilities. But at the very least the Flip 5’s support for WiFi 6E means that if you have a compatible router, your device will be able to take full advantage of it.
