It’s not uncommon for smartphone manufacturers to inject a bit of their own DNA into Android, resulting in a multitude of different skins and custom UIs. With that in mind, it looks like Huawei is ready to introduce the latest iteration of its very own HarmonyOS soon.
For those unfamiliar, HarmonyOS is Huawei’s own custom Android interface which comes with an exclusive set of Huawei-exclusive apps and software, and while Huawei does not offer a “Google-fied” version of Android, it still runs on the platform at its very core. A report online shows that HarmonyOS 4.0 has been beta-tested on several Huawei devices, and will be formally shown to the public this August.
Among the devices which were used for testing include the Huawei P60, P60 Pro, Mate50, Mate50 Pro, Mate40 series, and Huawei Mate X2 series handsets.
Several new features are reportedly coming with the new version, including performance improvements, app loading times, and system responsiveness. It’s very likely that we’ll also see Huawei’s take on the Dynamic Island with HarmonyOS 4.0, which was leaked a while back.
Other details to get excited about are the reportedly improved viewing experience with support for 120Hz LTPO refresh rates, as well as improved battery endurance.
