Are you sick and tired of the Twitter drama and the constant changing of rules ever since Elon Musk took over? If you’re looking for a Twitter alternative, then you might be interested to learn that Meta’s new app, Threads, is now available for download.
For those who are unfamiliar, Threads is a new social media app developed by Meta’s Instagram team. Not to be confused with the Instagram DM app Threads which actually shut down several years ago, Threads has been designed to be more a text-based social media app, similar to Twitter.
In terms of functionality and features, it’s more or less the same as Twitter. Users can create text-based posts (photos are allowed too), and their followers can comment on them. The main difference between this and Instagram is that Threads seems to encourage more text-based postings, so if users don’t feel the need or want to post a photo, they can just upload a text post instead.
Threads also comes with features that allow users greater control over their account and privacy, like controlling who can mention or reply to you, and also create a list of hidden words to help you filter out comments that might be toxic. If you’re interested in checking it out, it is currently available for download on both Android and iOS.
