Ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter, the company has been making some questionable decisions that seem to be alienating its users. This has led to the creation of Twitter alternatives such as Mastodon, but if Mastodon isn’t your cup of tea, then Meta’s own alternative could be of interest to you.
The company has confirmed that it will be launching Threads this week, which is essentially Meta’s take on Twitter. In concept it will function similarly to Twitter, where users can post and share things on the platform, and their followers can then reply and engage in a conversation.
Whether or not Threads will be able to succeed Twitter remains to be seen, but like we said, if you’re not a fan of Musk and how he’s handling Twitter, Threads could potentially be a good alternative. The app is expected to be launched on the 6th of July for iOS devices, but there is no mention of when it will be available for Android users.
That being said, Meta has launched several apps and services in the past which they have since closed, so it remains to be seen whether or not Threads will follow in those footsteps, or if it will become big enough to be its own thing, so maybe don’t put too much stock into it just yet.
