Battery life has always been a bit contentious when it comes to Google’s Pixel series of phones, but the good news is that it looks like improvements are going to be made to the battery and charging capabilities of the upcoming Google Pixel 8.
This is according to an exclusive report from Android Authority who were tipped off about the improvements that we can expect from the phone. According to the report, the Pixel 8 is expected to see a bump in charging speeds from 20W from the Pixel 7 to 24W. It will also feature a slightly larger 4,485mAh battery compared to the 4,270mAh battery in the Pixel 7.
As for the Pro model, the Pixel 8 Pro is also expected to see an upgrade in charging speeds from 23W in the Pixel 7 Pro to 27W, but unfortunately in the battery department, the upgrade will be marginal and probably won’t make a huge difference as it goes from 4,926mAh in the Pixel 7 Pro to 4,950mAh.
That being said, it should be noted that since we’ll also be seeing changes in the processor, any difference in battery size could be offset by the increase in performance. Obviously a newer chip should bring about better energy efficiency, so that could result in an improvement, but we’ll just have to wait for the release and test it ourselves to get a better idea.
