Insane Pixel Fold demand pushes backorders into September

The Google Pixel Fold is Google’s first foldable Pixel phone and understandably there is a lot of hype around it. For starters, given that it is a Pixel phone, many are curious to see how Google has optimized Android for it. Also, there is the added advantage of being first in line when it comes to updates.

That being said, despite the phone commanding a hefty price tag, demand for the handset appears to be very healthy. So much so that when we tried to order one for ourselves, we discovered that we were a bit too late because according to the listing on the Google Store, it says that the phone has been backordered until September, the 7-14th to be more specific.

Now, to be fair, we’re not sure if this backorder is due to the high demand for the phone, or because Google simply did not make as many units initially. Given how expensive the phone costs, we’re pretty sure that Google might have been a bit cautious when it came to the production of the phone as they probably don’t want to sit on too many unsold units.

Alternatively, it is also possible that despite the exorbitant price that the phone commands, customers aren’t fazed by it and that the idea of owning a foldable Pixel outweighed its cost. Either way, if you are thinking of getting one for yourself, you might want to move quickly because we’re not sure if that backorder date could be pushed even further.
