WhatsApp currently allows users to pin chats. Whenever a chat has been pinned, it stays at the top of all your chats so you can access it quickly. WhatsApp has also been working on pinned messages which hasn’t been released yet, but a new report from WABetaInfo has revealed further development of the feature.
According to the report, it seems that WhatsApp will allow users to set timers for pinned messages. Pinned messages will exist within the chat itself, and similar to pinned chats, it lets users quickly find information within a chat which might have a lot of information as more people chat and the message could get lost.
But since not all messages need to stay pinned indefinitely, this feature will let users choose how long a message stays pinned, whether it be for 24 hours, 7 days, or up to 30 days. There is no custom timer, at least not in the current beta of the beta, so users will have to decide within these three options.
Pinned messages will be different from starred messages, which acts like a bookmark of sorts. Pins can be used to display important information, like maybe reminding users of a particular chat about an upcoming meeting, public holidays, an event, and so on. The feature isn’t live yet but hopefully it will be in the near future.
