Samsung has managed to outperform the entire smartphone market in 2023

It is no secret that when it comes to smartphone shipments and sales, Samsung is pretty much at the top of their game, and this was recently proven in a recent report from TrendForce where it appeared that Samsung was the only smartphone maker to see positive results in the first quarter of 2023.

According to TrendForce’s data, Samsung actually saw an increase in their market share quarter-on-quarter where it grew by 5.5%, giving them 24.6% of the smartphone market share. This is versus Samsung’s competition such as Apple which saw a drop of 27.5% QoQ, bringing them down to 21.3%.

Other competitors also saw a dip in market share such as Oppo which dropped by 17%, Xiaomi by 27.4%, and Vivo by 14.2%. Xiaomi, despite being fourth place overall, seemed to be the “worst” performer as the year-on-year numbers suggested that the company actually saw a change of 40.4% in their global market share.

It can only be assumed that the Samsung Galaxy S23 series played a role in helping Samsung achieve those numbers, as the first quarter of the year was when Samsung’s new flagships launched. It is possible that we could see a change in numbers in the later part of the year which is when Apple’s new iPhones are expected to launch, but for now, it looks like Samsung is in the lead once again.
