One problem with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is that its external display is too small. Sure, it’s great for notifications and to tell the time and date, but beyond that, it doesn’t really feel as useful as it could be, despite it being one of the best foldable phones out there today.
That being said, fans of the flip form factor will be pleased to learn that with the upcoming Flip 5, Samsung will be increasing the size of its external display. This has been rumored about in the past for a while now, but thanks to the folks at MySmartPrice, they have managed to obtain what appears to be leaked marketing materials for the phone.
The materials shows off the upcoming Flip 5 along with its rumored larger external screen. Samsung has made an interesting design choice here, as you can see in the image above. Instead of making it a regular rectangular-shaped display, they have sort of created an edge so that the display curves around the cameras.
Presumably the part that curves around the camera will display status indicator like battery life, cellular/WiFi signal strength, and so on, while the rest of the display could be used for other things like apps, a viewfinder for the camera, and more. Samsung has recently confirmed that they will be hosting its next Unpacked event in July, so we should have more details come next month.
