Nothing Phone (2) will get 3 years of Android updates

It’s a bit depressing that despite Apple being able to update their iPhones for at least five years, Android OEMs are still falling short of that mark, but we suppose they are trying. In a tweet via its official account, Nothing has revealed that for the upcoming Nothing Phone (2), they will be offering 3 years of major Android updates.

This will be in addition to the four years of security updates, so if you plan on keeping the phone around for an extended period of time, you can. Keep in mind that the promised 3 years of Android updates could even be extended. This is because every now and then, OEMs surprise us with additional updates beyond what was initially promised.

There is no guarantee that this will happen with the Nothing Phone (2), but it’s something that we can only hope for. In the meantime, the Nothing Phone (2) was recently confirmed to be launching in July.

So far what has been confirmed is the fact that the handset will be using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset (for cost reasons), and that the US will be one of the launch markets, which is great news considering that its predecessor had skipped the US market. There is no word on pricing yet but we should have those details come July when the phone is officially announced.
