Video calls on the Samsung Galaxy S23 are about to get more flexible

One of the features users have access to in the Apple ecosystem is called Handoff. It allows users to transfer tasks from one Apple device to another, like if you’re on FaceTime on your phone but want to move it to an iPad or Mac.

Now it looks like Samsung phones are about to get a similar feature. This is according to a tweet by Ice Universe who claims that Samsung has started to roll out an update that lets Galaxy S23 owners transfer video calls on their phones to another device, like a Galaxy Tab tablet, so they can enjoy their calls on a larger screen.

What’s odd about this is that it appears that this update is rolling out only in China. It is unclear if Samsung will be pushing out a similar update to other regions that the Galaxy S23 is sold in, but it would be strange and kind of annoying if they didn’t. Maybe if they do, it will come as part of a later update, but we’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, it is also unclear what are the limitations of this feature. Will it only work using Samsung’s native video calling app? Or will it work with other apps that support video calls like WhatsApp, Skype, Messenger, or Google Meet? In any case, hopefully other Galaxy S23 owners can look forward to the update soon.
