TECNO’s CAMON 20 Series puts Mobile Photography Front and Center

0

The race for mobile photography dominance has resulted in various smartphone OEMs each developing their own tricks and techniques to give users top-of-the-line camera performance on their smartphones. With that in mind, TECNO recently announced its newest pair of handsets with the CAMON 20 series, which are aimed at competing mid-range Android phones – let’s take a look!

CAMON 20 Pro 5G

First up is the CAMON 20 Pro 5G, which features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a 1080×2400 pixel resolution and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8050 chipset, backed by 8GB of RAM as well as 256GB of internal storage. The phone will ship with Android 13, alongside TECNO’s HIOS 13 interface.

In terms of cameras, the phone comes with a 64MP main camera with OIS, backed by a pair of 2MP macro and depth sensors. In front is a 32MP selfie camera, housed in a hole punch on the AMOLED display. The phone can also film video at a maximum of 4K resolution at 30fps. Other details include USB-C 2.0 port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, and a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 33W fast-charging.

CAMON 20 Premier

Up next is the Camon 20 Premier, which features a more robust camera system that TECNO says incorporates “SLR camera in-body image stabilization,” allowing the device to compensate for shakes up to 5,000 times per second. It does come with essentially the same external design as the 20 Pro 5G, with the textured and patterned rear panel that sets the phone apart from other more “traditional” looking handsets.

Similar to the 20 Pro, the Premier comes with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 1080×2400 pixel resolution, and in-display fingerprint sensor. It’s also running the Dimensity 8050 chipset, with 8GB of RAM and slightly larger 512GB of internal storage. The phone lacks a headphone jack however, but comes with faster 45W fast-charging for its 5000 mAh battery.

As mentioned, the phone does come with a boost in terms of camera hardware, thanks to a trio of cameras which include a 50MP main camera, a 108MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Video is still limited to 4K + 30fps, however. The front of the phone houses a 32MP selfie camera as well.

Availability

The CAMON 20 Pro 5G and 20 Premier will be available in “Dark Welkin” and “Serenity Blue,” with an additional “Glacier Glow Glass” for the CAMON 20. All these models will be available across global regions including Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Southern Asia, with pricing varying by region.
