Smartwatch brand Mobvoi recently took to the internet to issue a statement addressing a growing number of complaints, regarding the company’s delayed software updates for a number of its devices. More specifically, the company’s statement addresses the Wear OS 3 platform update, which was promised for its devices a while back.
In a post on its official Twitter page, the company stated that the delayed Wear OS 3 update was in part due to the SDW4100 chipset and proprietary dual system architecture onboard, which require “architecture upgrades and performance debugging” in order to update compatible hardware to Wear OS 3.

Currently, Mobvoi’s flagship wearables include the TicWatch Pro 3 and Pro 3 Ultra, with the TicWatch E3 serving as the company’s more affordable Wear OS device. Mobvoi has urged customers to stay tuned for official announcements, adding that it will be conducting an extensive closed beta testing phase.
A while back, Mobvoi teased its upcoming TicWatch Pro 5 smartwatch, which was first revealed some months ago through its social media account. With that said though, there has yet to be a “formal” announcement of sorts regarding the wearable’s full specs sheet, release date, and pricing.
At the moment, only a handful of Wear OS smartwatches on the market come with the current Wear OS 3 platform version, including Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 5 series, as well as Google’s own Pixel Watch.
