Pixel users, rejoice – Google has finally released this month’s update for its Google Pixel smartphone line, which brings the May 2023 Android update to several Pixel handsets. This will include phones from the Pixel 4a series, Pixel 5 and 5a, Pixel 6 series, up to the current Pixel 7 devices.
The software update addresses an issue that affects security vulnerability in the Framework component, which Google says could lead to “local escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed.” The software update comes with version number TQ2A.230505.002 for global Pixel models, and version TQ2A.230505.002.A1 for T-Mobile & MVNOs, and Google Fi (US).
In recent Google news, several leaked image renders of the upcoming Pixel Foldable were shared online, which give a better look at what to expect with Google’s first-ever foldable Android handset. The device is expected to be shown alongside the upcoming Pixel 7a on May 10, during the Google I/O developers conference.
If you own a device from the Pixel 4a series onwards, you can check for the update by going into your Settings app, heading down to System and then to System Update.
