HBO Max and Discovery+’s “Max” Streaming Service Launches in May

0

While content streaming services aren’t anything new, we’ve witnessed some of them come and go, although this time around it looks like HBO Max and Discovery+ are determined to stay in the game for the long run with the upcoming launch of “Max.” A result of a merger between the two brands last year, Max will launch in May 23 for viewers in the United States.

As for what kind of content you can expect, Max will come with movies and shows from both HBO Max and Discovery+’s libraries, which will be available to viewers in Latin American later in the fall, while Asia and European regions will get the service in 2024. Going back to the US, there will be three different pricing tiers offered for subscribers:

  • $9.99/month ($99.99/year) Max Ad Lite comes with two 1080p concurrent streams and no offline downloads, and comes with ads.
  • $15.99/month ($149.99/year) Max Ad Free plan also features two 1080p concurrent streams + 30 offline downloads.
  • $19.99/month ($199.99/year) Max Ultimate plan supports up to four 4K streams with Dolby Atmos sound + 100 offline downloads.

Users who are currently subscribed to HBO Max will see their account and payment information, as well as viewing history move over to the new service. In the meantime, Discovery Plus will continue to be available on its own for $4.99/month (with ads) and $6.99/month for the ad-free version.
