A lot of apps these days support dark mode. Dark mode is incredibly useful if you like to keep things dark looking, and it is also handy in the dark where the use of deep blacks and grays will make apps and interfaces look less glaring.
The good news is that Snapchat looks like it could be getting its own dark mode soon. This is according to developer Alessandro Paluzzi who discovered signs of these changes dating back to 2021. That’s the good news. The bad news is that Snapchat might charge users to use it.

This is according to Paluzzi who stated that dark mode might be a feature exclusive to Snapchat+ subscribers. For those unfamiliar, Snapchat+ is a subscription feature for Snapchat which unlocks some additional features for users willing to pay for it. It is priced at $3.99 a month.
Nothing has been confirmed yet so take it with a grain of salt, but Paluzzi has a pretty good track record with these things so there is a good chance it could be the real deal. Assuming it is real, it is kind of disappointing that Snapchat would lock a somewhat basic and standard feature behind a paywall, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that this won’t be the case!
