This app brings the Pixel’s unified search experience to non-Pixel phones

If there is one thing that Google does really well, it would be search. We’re not just talking about search on the web, but also on phones where its Pixel handsets have a much better search experience compared to other Android phones.

The good news is that if you don’t own a Pixel phone but want to experience the Pixel’s unified search feature, you now can. This is thanks to an app called Pixel Search by developer Rushikesh Kamewar.

What it does is that it emulates the way the Pixel Launcher searches for things on a Pixel phone, and so far based on initial impressions, it seems to replicate that experience pretty well! Keep in mind that this isn’t an official app meaning that it might not necessarily behave or offer up all of the features a Pixel user might have had experienced, but it does come pretty close.

Users will be able to use this app to search for pretty much anything in their phones, whether it be apps, shortcuts, contacts, files, web suggestions, and more. The best part is that this app appears to be completely free and there are no ads, so you can go ahead and use it without worrying about having to pay anything for it or deal with annoying, intrusive ads.
