ANBERNIC Launches the RG405M Handheld with an Android-based OS

While we’ve seen a rise in the development and manufacture of dedicated gaming handhelds this past year, one brand that has always been consistent in releasing Android-based handheld consoles is ANBERNIC, a China-based OEM. Recently, the company launched the RG405M, a new Android-powered gaming device.

In terms of specs, the device features a 4.95-inch OLED display with a low 960×544 pixel resolution, comes with Android 12, Wifi and Bluetooth connectivity, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB expandable storage. There’s also a 5,000 mAh battery onboard, which the company says can last up to 8 hours of usage per charge. The RG405M is powered by the Unisoc Tiger T618 chipset, which packs two ARM Cortex-A75 CPU cores and six Cortex-A55 CPU cores, both clocked at 2 GHz. There’s also a Mali-G52 GPU onboard clocked at 850 MHz.

As for controls, the handheld features your usual array of gamepad controls, including a D-pad, action buttons, twin analog sticks, shoulder buttons, as well as start and select buttons. Given the Android 12-based OS onboard, we can imagine that the device will be compatible with most Android games, not to mention a wide range of emulators.

While it’s a bit underpowered compared to rival handhelds like the Razer handheld and the Logitech G Cloud, the RG405M is a reasonably more affordable option thanks to a pretty low starting price of $141.99.
