If you were looking for an alternative to Apple’s Airtag bluetooth trackers, then you might want to wait a bit for what Samsung has in store – it’s reported that the company might soon launch an updated version of its Galaxy SmartTag this year, according to some reports online.

A report from the folks over at Sammobile states that Samsung is planning to launch it sometime during Q3 2023, according to a source. Not much is known aside from this however, but Sammobile adds that the new tags might make an appearance alongside the Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Watch 6.

While Samsung’s Galaxy Note series is no longer a part of its yearly launch schedule, the company still holds multiple launch events per year, with an initial launch event early on for its Galaxy S series devices, and a few other dates for its foldable devices, as well as its accessories including wireless earbuds and smartwatches.

Currently, Apple leads the competition for smart tag accessories, thanks to big sales of its Airtag series. If the rumored launch is true though, it will be interesting to see how the new tag performs once it becomes available for retail.
