Google’s Pixel A-series phones have certainly gained a following among Android and Pixel enthusiasts, offering buyers a chance to grab the “Pixel experience” for a more wallet-friendly price compared to the company’s flagship handsets. With that said, it looks like we’re getting closer and closer to seeing this year’s Pixel 7a, at least according to an online leak.

A post from Twitter user @Gadgetsdata shares a handful of images which show hands-on usage of the Pixel 7a, and some screenshots of the device’s user interface and onboard software. The Tweet lists some specs including a 6.1-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, the Google Tensor G2 chip, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1, a 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor and 12MP UW camera, 5W wireless charging, as well as Android 13.
If true, these specs bring it rather close to what the Pixel 7 already offers, with the exception of the screen size and materials used for the hardware itself, which are unknown at this time.
It’s very likely that we’ll see the Pixel 7a be unveiled at this year’s Google I/O, which is scheduled to take place on May 10. The event might also show us more information regarding the upcoming Pixel tablet. At the moment, Google’s most affordable smartphone is the Pixel 6a, which shares a similar design and specs to 2021’s Pixel 6 series.
