You can now use Spatial Audio on your Pixel Buds Pro

Google has just announced that it’s finally bringing its promised Spatial Audio feature to its Pixel Buds, adding a new feature to the company’s flagship wireless audio accessory. The feature was made available at an earlier time for Pixel phones.

A feature that we’ve seen before on other devices, Spatial Audio essentially lets users hear sounds in a more immersive manner, with added depth compared to the quality on more standard audio hardware. It also features head tracking, so sounds move along with a user’s movements. Google does make a disclaimer in its official announcement, however:

“For the best experience, you will need supporting apps, with content at 5.1+ surround sound. Try it out with action or nature movies on Netflix, YouTube, HBO Max and more, to enhance your listening and media consumption experiences. This feature will work on Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, or Pixel 7 Pro.”

Google adds that the feature will not be compatible with A-series Pixel Buds and phones. The new update should arrive automatically for users’ Pixel Buds Pros, and can then be toggled on or off in the Settings menu.

Launched last year, the Pixel Buds Pro include other features such as active-noise cancelling, touch control support, and wireless charging via the earbuds case.
