Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is still receiving updates with the latest February 2023 security patch
It’s safe to say that Samsung’s Galaxy Note series is kind of dead. The company hasn’t launched a new model in the past couple of years, and with devices like the Galaxy S23 Ultra featuring support for the S Pen, we doubt we’ll be seeing a new Note handset anytime soon, if at all.
That being said, if you are still using your Note device, particularly the Note 9, then you might want to keep an eye out for an update. This is because it appears that Samsung has pushed out the February 2023 security patch and the Note 9 will be one of the handsets that will be receiving it.
It’s actually kind of surprising because Samsung has officially ended support for the handset back in 2022 after supporting it for the past four years, so it’s nice to see that even though officially it is no longer supported, Samsung is still being generous with its updates. It is possible that maybe the patch will be fixing a particularly severe flaw, which is why Samsung has deemed it prudent enough to get an update.
We’ve seen this happen with older devices so it’s not too surprising, but it’s still nice to see anyway. The update will have the firmware version N960FXXSAFWB3, so keep an eye out for it if you are still using your Note 9 device.
