WhatsApp has almost everything you need from a messenger app. It sends/receives photos and videos, it lets you send files, make audio recordings, hold group calls (both audio and video), and boasts end-to-end encryption.
One of the features we feel it’s lacking is proper support for tablets, but the good news for Android users is that according to a report from WABetaInfo, an upcoming update to WhatsApp should address that by introducing split view.

As you can see in the screenshot above, by introducing support for split view, users will be able to use WhatsApp on their tablets in a similar manner as the desktop/web version of the app. Your individual and group chats can be viewed on the left side of the screen, while the right side will show you the actual chats and where you can send your messages from.
As WABetaInfo notes, the current version of WhatsApp on tablets is kind of like an oversized version of the phone app, where the main chat will basically take up the entire screen and users had to go back to the chat list whenever they wanted to look for a different chat. With this split view, all your chat groups and individual chats can be viewed clearly.
This update isn’t live yet as it is part of the beta, but hopefully it won’t be too long before WhatsApp releases it to the general public.
