Good news, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 may come with a bigger battery

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 launched last year and it had pretty much everything you wanted from a smartwatch, except maybe battery life. The watch is rated for about 40-50 hours on a single charge, but real world usage found that it was a little less than that.

If you hate the idea of having to charge your smartwatch every few days, then the Galaxy Watch 6 could be of interest to you. According to a report from GalaxyClub.nl, they have spotted certifications for batteries that are supposed to make its way to the Galaxy Watch 6 later this year, and according to the certifications, they are 300mAh and 425mAh respectively.

Presumably the smaller battery will be for the 40mm model, while the larger battery will be for the 44mm model, but before you get too excited, here’s a bit of context. The Watch 5’s 40mm had a 284mAh battery, while the 44mm had a 410mAh battery, so the jump in battery life isn’t as big or as drastic as we would like.

While you could argue that it is still bigger, there is a chance that the newer and more powerful processor coupled with any new features could offset the difference in battery, resulting in similar battery life. Alternatively, Samsung could have figured out a way to make the Watch 6 even more optimized, but either way we’ll probably have to wait until much later this year for the details.
