Spotify has undergone a lot of changes over the years, trying out (and somtimes rolling back) new ideas and additions to its streaming service, as well as its mobile and desktop apps. As such, the music platform has announced that it will be incorporating a new, albeit simple change to its in-app layout.
More specifically, Spotify will be merging its “Heart” icon and its “Add to playlist” icon into a simplified, singular symbol. As per Spotify’s official statement regarding this change:
“Starting today, we’re consolidating the Heart icon and the “Add to playlist” icon into a single symbol: the Plus (+) button. When you hit Plus (+), you’ll be able to save and choose the destination for any song, playlist, or podcast with a simple tap. This upgrade is the latest step in our ongoing work to create a more intuitive experience—all leading to an easier way for you to engage with the music and podcasts you love.”
Spotify says that this new method will give users a more streamlined way to save their favorite tracks and podcasts, adding that during testing, the Plus (+) button helped save time for users, letting them edit multiple playlists at once. The new feature is scheduled to launch for all users worldwide on both iOS and Android beginning today, and will roll-out for more users in the coming weeks and months.
