Over the years, we’ve come across various battery experiments where researchers have tried to create alternatives to lithium-ion batteries that not only last longer, but hold their charge for much longer as well.
Unfortunately, a lot of those experiments have yet to become commercial products and as such, we are still stuck with lithium-ion batteries in our phones. One consolation for this is that manufacturers have stepped up their game when it comes to charging speeds, but for now it looks like Realme has the crown.
This is thanks to the use of the dual-GaN power adapter which pairs with a proprietary high-current USB-C that can deliver 20V/12A of power, which is then converted to 10V/24A through the use of three 100W power management chips. For those worried about what this could do to battery health, Realme claims that even after 1,600 cycles, battery health shouldn’t go lower than 80%.
The phone also features a 16MP front-facing camera, and on the back there is a triple camera setup featuring a 50MP main and an 8MP ultrawide along with a 2MP macro. The Realme GT Neo5 is priced starting at 3,199 yuan for the 16GB RAM/256GB storage base model, and there are also plans to eventually bring it to international markets.
