Tomb Raider is Blasting its Way Back to Android Devices

The Tomb raider franchise has been rather quiet in the past few years, and it’s been a while since we’ve seen any major releases from the action-adventure video game franchise. There’s been a bit of buzz lately however, as a new spin-off title is making its way to mobile devices.

More specifically, “Tomb Raider Reloaded” is a top-down shooter game designed for smartphones, and puts players once again in the shoes of treasure hunter Lara Croft. Published by Square Enix, the game is currently up for pre-registration on the Google Play Store, so players interested in checking out the new title should head on over there. The game’s official Play Store entry teases what we can expect in terms of gameplay:

“Gameplay features roguelike and procedurally generated stages for a new and varied experience with every run. As you progress through each level, you’ll be able to stack abilities and perks such as piercing shots, experience boosts, grenade throws and arch shots for more powerful attacks, quicker character leveling and a wider range of damage.”

In addition to the top-down shooting mechanics, Tomb Raider Reloaded also features a campaign mode, as well as unlockable items. There’s no mention yet of the pricing structure for the game, but given the trend of most mobile games these days, we wouldn’t be surprised if it came as a free-to-play title.
