In the past, repairing a phone yourself was tricky because it wasn’t always obvious. But now with the right to repair movement gaining momentum and with more companies coming on board, the process is becoming easier.
For those who own the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro and might be interested in repairing the phones themselves, then you’re in luck. According to a report from 9to5Google, they have discovered that Google has published the repair manuals for both phones online, meaning that users now have a guide if they want to repair the phones themselves.
Unfortunately, there is a catch. Right now it appears that the manuals are only available in France and if you’re coming from other parts of the world, you can’t access them, and even if you found a copy online, it’s written in French so that’s another barrier. We’re not sure if Google plans to eventually release the manuals in more regions and more languages, so hopefully that’s the case.
That being said, even with these manuals, you will still need access to the components and have the know-how when it comes to dealing with electronic components like soldering, desoldering, and more. It might be more useful for third-party repair shops who want an official guide from Google, but either way at least it’s out there.
