You don’t have to worry so much about dropping your Samsung Galaxy S23
The problem with a lot of flagship phones is that they don’t feel particularly tough or sturdy, and to be fair, most companies don’t really design their flagships to be rugged devices. But for those who are concerned about the durability of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23, you can rest assured when it comes to its display.
This is because Corning has confirmed that they are working with Samsung on the display of the Galaxy S23, where the handset will be utilizing Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 display. This new glass technology was announced back in 2022, but now it looks like it has been confirmed that the Galaxy S23 will be one of the handsets to make use of it.
The Victus 2 is the latest glass coming from Corning and is designed to better protect the phone’s display when the handset is dropped onto rough surfaces like concrete, while also ensuring that it does not scratch. We have yet to put Corning’s claims to the test so do take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully the newer technology will make the Galaxy S23’s display more durable.
We expect that there will be quite a number of durability and scratch tests coming out when the phone launches, so hopefully we’ll have a more definitive answer soon on just how much tougher the Victus 2 is with the Galaxy S23. In the meantime, it might not be a bad idea to buy a screen protector and a protective case all the same.
