One of the features Apple offers its iOS and macOS users, especially when purchasing first-party accessories, is the ability to quickly pair them instead of having to dig through your phone’s Bluetooth settings. Google introduced a similar feature to Android in the form of Fast Pair, and now it looks like the feature is being expanded.
According to an APK teardown conducted by the folks at 9to5Google, it appears that Google could be bringing Fast Pair over to the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. For those who are unfamiliar, Fast Pair is similar in concept to Apple’s own feature when pairing devices like AirTags, Apple Watches, or AirPods with an iPhone or iPad.
It makes it quick and easy to pair accessories, especially if users are unfamiliar with their phones or Bluetooth settings and all users need to do is bring the accessory close to the device and it should be detected and a prompt should appear, walking users through the setup/pairing process.
It shouldn’t be surprising that Google is bringing this feature to the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. Both Google and Samsung have developed a pretty close and tight relationship over the years, with Samsung helping Google with the revamp of its Wear OS platform. In any case, more details should be revealed soon enough as Samsung will be officially unveiling the Galaxy S23 series on the 1st of February.
