Playing music through your wearable like a smartwatch seems like a pretty obvious feature to have, but yet for some odd reason, Fitbit has not included the feature in some of its newer models. We say it’s odd because some of the company’s older models did come with the feature, or at least it used to.
According to a report from 9to5Google, they have discovered a support page on Fitbit’s website in which there is now a notice stating that Fitbit will be removing support for Pandora and Deezer’s apps for some of their older models. These older models will include the Ionic, Sense, Versa, Versa 2, and Versa 3, all of which supported both apps prior to this announcement.
It is unclear why Fitbit has opted to remove support for the apps on their older models, and we’re sure that some users will be quite upset as some might have opted to buy these older models instead of the newer ones simply for music playback support. Perhaps Fitbit could introduce music playback for its newer models at a later date, but we’ll have to wait and see if that happens.
That being said, these changes will only come into effect in March 2023, so you’ve got a couple of months to look for alternatives, or perhaps start playing music through your smartphone if you want to listen to music while you workout.
