Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 could end up insanely thinner than the Fold 4

0

According to a recent rumor, it has been suggested that for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Samsung is expected to utilize a brand new teardrop hinge design. This is said to result in a much thinner device.

It looks like those rumors could be true because according to a photo shared on Naver, it shows off what could potentially be the Fold 5 next to the Fold 4 sporting the rumored hinge redesign. Assuming this leak is accurate and we are looking at the Fold 5 (or a prototype), it certainly does look a lot thinner than the Fold 4.

One of the problems with foldables is that due to the current hinge design, it results in phones that are kind of thick. While not all users mind the thickness, it definitely isn’t as sleek or elegant compared to more traditional smartphones. A thinner design could also appeal to users who are more particular about these sorts of things.

The previous rumor also claimed that the water-resistance of the phone is still maintained despite the use of the teardrop hinge, but we’ll have to wait and see and test it out for ourselves. The Fold 5 isn’t expected to be announced anytime soon. The Fold 4 was launched in August 2022, so it stands to reason that the Fold 5 could also be launched around a similar date.
