Citizen has unveiled its latest smartwatch at CES 2023

When it comes to more traditional timepieces, Citizen is a brand that most people are familiar with. If you’re a fan of the brand and their watches, then you might be interested to learn that at CES 2023, Citizen has debuted a brand new smartwatch as part of the company’s CZ Smart lineup.

While smartwatches are a dime a dozen these days, it seems that Citizen isn’t necessarily trying to appeal to that market. This is because with the new CZ Smart smartwatch, the company has baked in features like a self-care advisor. This self-care advisor relies on Citizen’s CZ Smart YouQ app that was developed alongside NASA’s Ames Research Center.

It also utilizes AI within IBM’s Watson Studio on IBM Cloud and with the use of this software, the Citizen CZ Smart smartwatch is capable of helping the user understand and anticipate patterns of fatigue and alertness. The idea is that by being able to identify these issues, it can help the wearer build better habits, or maybe even see a health professional if they think that something is wrong.

The watch, when worn to bed, can learn the wearer’s preferred sleep and wake times, and the longer the user wears it, the better the AI can learn and understand. Alertness of the user is measured using an alert score that is an iteration of NASA’s Psychomotor Vigilance Task Test (PVT+) that is used to help measure the mental acuity of astronauts.

As far as the hardware is concerned, the Citizen CZ Smart is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100+ and comes with 8GB of storage and boasts a 1.3-inch AMOLED display. It will be offered in 41mm and 44mm options and comes with all the usual fitness and health tracking features.

It also comes with a battery that Citizen claims is good for over 24 hours, and supports fast charging where it can fully charge in just 40 minutes. The smartwatch will be available in the US come March 2023 and will be priced starting at $350.

CZ Smart is now available for pre-order on Amazon and you can get more information at www.citizenwatch.com/czsmart.
