Waze testing new feature that warns drivers of dangerous roads
There are many roads around the world where there might be specific areas where accidents tend to happen quite often. Maybe because late at night, it might be the perfect place for people to race their cars or bikes, or maybe there’s a blindspot which has led to multiple crashes.
If you’re unfamiliar with an area, you might want to consider using Waze because according to a report from Geektime, it seems that in the latest beta for Waze, Google has added a new feature that will alert users of roads that might be dangerous. How these roads are determined are based on user reports where there might have been a history of accident reports on that particular stretch or area.
To highlight roads that might be dangerous, they will be shown in red on Waze. This might not necessarily prevent accidents, but drivers who are entering these roads will at the very least be aware and might be more careful and alert. That being said, Geektime does note that this feature might not work on roads that users take often, which makes sense because if you drive that stretch frequently, chances are you’re familiar with it and would simply ignore the warnings, but it’s not a bad thing to have it there anyway.
At the moment the feature is only available in beta which means that if you’re not taking part in the beta, you won’t see it until Google decides to roll it out for everyone to use.
