OPPO Rumored to Launch First-Party SoC
OPPO’s been going through a lot of changes lately. The Chinese electronics giant has been building up its brand for several years now, allowing it to compete with established smartphone manufacturers across international markets – we’ve seen a variety of impressive hardware from OPPO, and it seems that it’s looking to once again venture into new territory.
OPPO independently developed the processor, which will be used in OPPO smartphones in 2024.

An online post from known tech informant @UniverseIce claims that OPPO is currently developing its own first-party chipset, which will be used on its own handsets sometime in 2024. He adds that the company has employed thousands of people for its own chip development team, with the industry “being more optimistic” regarding OPPO chips.
This is similar to what companies like Samsung are doing with its own Exynos chip, and Google with its Tensor SoC (albeit with help from Samsung). Huawei has also been doing this for some time now, using its own Kirin-brand chipsets in its smartphones.
With that said, not much else has been mentioned regarding the matter, and OPPO itself has not made any statements confirming or denying this (at the time being). Smartphone fans looking for a phone running on an OPPO-branded chip might have to wait a bit for more developments on this issue, but it goes without saying that more competition in the mobile SoC space should be interesting to watch in the long run.
