When Nothing launched the Nothing Phone (1), it was still running on Android 13. Now, not too long ago Nothing CEO Carl Pei teased that the company was getting ready to launch Android 13 for the handset, and the good news is that it’s sort of here.
Nothing has announced that the Nothing OS 1.5 open beta has been launched and according to the company, they estimate that the update should be available for all users in the early part of 2023, so if you can’t join the beta or don’t really like taking part in betas, you should be able to expect the update in the coming months.
Nothing OS 1.5 will be bringing about a bunch of new features to the phone in addition to the Android 13 update and all the new features and improvements Google has brought to the table. This includes a new custom app developed by Nothing, a 50% boost in app loading speeds, multi-language support that lets you use different languages for different apps, improved privacy upgrades, and more.
Given that this is a beta, there are bound to be some bugs here and there so if you’re using the Nothing Phone (1) as your daily driver, it might not be the best idea to use the beta just yet, but if you’re curious, you can register your interest to be a beta tester over on the Nothing forums.
