A lot of smartphones these days boast cameras with optical and digital zoom, and honestly many of them are more than capable of getting the job done. But you might have noticed that for more traditional camera lenses, when users zoom in the lens can extend and retract, or are designed to be quite long.
This is actually something that Tecno is bringing to the table with their latest smartphone, the Phantom X2 Pro, a smartphone whose unique selling point would be its retractable camera. The retractable camera is 65mm and has an aperture of f/1.5, making it pretty wide and perfect for low-light situations or if you’re trying to capture portrait images.
It also boasts 2.5x magnification which means that if you’re trying to capture portraits with a tighter shot of the head, or if you simply need a zoom lens, this should be able to get the job done and then some. In addition to the retractable camera, the Phantom X2 Pro is also accompanied by a 1/1.3-inch main 50MP camera and a 13MP ultrawide that can also be used for macro photography.
As for the rest of the phone, the Phantom X2 Pro comes with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus protecting it. Under the hood, a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset can be found and a 5,160mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. In terms of availability, the Tecno Phantom X2 will be initially launched in Saudi Arabia where it will be priced at around $930.
