Google could be bringing a more full-fledged Gmail and Calendar experience to Wear OS

One of the problems with smartwatches is that due to their size, it isn’t as easy to bring a fully functioning app onto it unlike a smartphone or tablet. This means that even though your watch can receive messages and emails, there are limitations as to what you can do with them.

The good news is that if you own a Wear OS smartwatch, a report from 9to5Google has revealed that they have heard that Google is apparently working on bringing Gmail and Calendar to Wear OS smartwatches. Apparently the experience of these apps will be “full”, but we’re not sure exactly what that means.

Presumably this could mean that users will be able to do more with these apps on their smartwatch, like maybe composing new emails, creating new Calendar events, and so on, thus further reducing the reliance on smartphones for users who might prefer to do everything from their wrist.

Take this with a grain of salt for now, but if you were hoping that you could do more productivity related tasks via your Wear OS smartwatch, then this could be something to look forward to. There was no mention as to when Google might be launching these revamped apps, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
