You can now send yourself WhatsApp messages

Sending yourself messages or emails as a way to remember things is pretty common, but for some reason, that feature was never available on WhatsApp. The good news is that if you do use WhatsApp as your primary messenger app, you might be interested to learn that the app now has the ability to send messages to yourself.

Dubbed “Message Yourself” (creative, we know), this new feature lets you send messages to yourself. It was previously spotted in the beta of the app, but now according to a report from TechCrunch, it looks like the feature is now live to all users and is rolling out to both users on iOS and Android.

There are many reasons why one might choose to send a message to themselves on WhatsApp instead of sending it over email or other methods. For one, messages on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted which means that there is the additional layer of security and privacy.

Secondly, you can also password protect WhatsApp which means that no one else but you can see the message even if they have access to your phone. While email and creating password-protected notes are still viable alternatives, if you prefer consolidating everything within a single app, then this is an update you should look forward to.
