When it comes to smartphone displays, right now a lot of handset manufacturers seem to be competing on refresh rate, but it looks like display brightness could be the next spec that they could be competing on.
According to the latest rumors, it has been suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S23 could pack an insanely bright display. The rumors claim that the phone could feature peak brightness of 2,200 nits, which is 200 nits more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max which is currently the brightest smartphone display in the market at the moment.
While obviously setting the brightness at max level is a good way to drain battery, having a bright display has its uses, especially in outdoor situations where direct sunlight could make the display harder to read. By having a brighter display, it could combat that problem and make the phone more usable in more scenarios.
In addition to the brighter display, the rumors are also claiming that Samsung might be using a new version of Gorilla Glass that will offer even better durability and better compete against other phones. Take these rumors with a grain of salt, but with the Galaxy S23 rumored for an early 2023 launch, we should have all the official details soon enough.
