Electronic Arts’ “Sims” series of games is one of those franchises which continues to be timeless and popular, and thus has resulted in multiple ports and spin-offs over the years. While the Sims games have already made their way to mobile devices by way of “The Sims Mobile” and “Sims Freeplay,” they weren’t the full-fledged console/PC experiences that made gamers fall in love with the franchise in the first place. That all may change soon though, according to some information online.
According to the folks over at Droid Gamers, EA and Maxis are currently at work in developing a mobile version of a full-on mainline Sims game. Heavily predicted to be a port of the Sims 5, there’s word that the game is undergoing testing for multiple platforms, codenamed “Project Rene.”
Porting the Sims 5 over to mobile devices would make sense, given EA’s push towards mobile gaming platforms for the past number of years.
With that said however, there’s still no official word on a release date, so it might be a while before we see a new Sims game hit our smartphones. If the rumors are confirmed, it would be pretty exciting to see a full-on Sims game on smartphones, without any compromises in features or playability.
