The Pebble smartwatch was one of the most successful Kickstarter projects of all time, and it’s not hard to see why, but after it was acquired by Fitbit, the company shut down its servers, but we have some good news for Pebble owners out there who are still holding onto their smartwatch.
It seems that the Pebble app has been updated with 64-bit support which means that it is now compatible with Google’s new Pixel 7 smartphones and future handsets that might go the 64-bit only route.
For a bit of context, the app isn’t available on the Play Store and hasn’t been for a while. Instead, the Pebble is being kept alive by a group calling themselves the Rebble Alliance. But what’s interesting about this update is that the app was actually signed using the official Pebble keys, which means that someone at Google is still trying to keep the watch relevant, or it could be Google giving owners one final (unofficial) update.
So, if you do own the Pebble smartwatch and still want to keep using it, you can find more details about the update on Reddit along with a link to the APK where you can download it and sideload it onto your Pixel 7 smartphone.
