Huawei makes pretty good smartphones, and a few years ago, it looked as though the company was on track to potentially dominate the smartphone market, beating out players like Apple and Samsung.
But all that changed when the company was put on the US Entity List, essentially forbidding them from doing business with US companies and vice versa. This effectively meant that Huawei’s relationship with Google was over, and that future Huawei smartphones could no longer include Google’s services.
This is a bummer because while Huawei makes great hardware, a large part of the Android experience revolves around Google and its services, so taking Google out of the equation made Huawei’s phones a lot less desirable, but there’s good news. If you don’t mind tinkering a bit, you can actually install Google Play on phones like the Huawei P50 Pro, and here’s how.
Install Google Play on Huawei P50 Pro
Before you proceed, it’s always a good idea to backup your phone and all of its contents. This is just in case something goes wrong during the installation process and you might need to factory reset your device and then restore the data.
This method might not be for everyone, especially those who might not be as tech savvy, so proceed at your own risk!
Launch the Huawei App Gallery on the P50 Pro and search for the “GSpace” app
