Ubisoft, Bungie, and IO to Look into Data Migration Support for Stadia Users

Following the announcement of Google Stadia’s planned shutdown next year, many Stadia users were understandably concerned about the whole situation surrounding the impending demise of the once-hyped cloud gaming platform. While Google has graciously offered refunds for Stadia software and hardware, there’s still the issue of how players are supposed to deal with the loss of their save files and in-game progress, a very understandable concern especially for those who have logged hundreds of hours into their favourite titles.

With that said, a handful of game development studios have reassured Stadia users that they’ll be looking into ways on how to migrate save data from their respective games, so that players don’t lose precious hours of progress when moving from Stadia. So far, Ubisoft, Bungie, and IO Interactive have expressed this initiative, which bodes well for gamers who invested time into Stadia.

Posts from the official Twitter accounts of the aforementioned studios have all addressed the issue, so gamers hoping for a way to migrate their save files should be on the lookout for any follow-up announcements regarding this matter. At the moment, it is possible to migrate Stadia save data using Google Takeout, although this method does not support all games on the platform.
