Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 4 Get the Wear OS Treatment

A while back, Google and Fitbit unveiled the latest batch of smartwatches and fitness trackers aimed at fitness enthusiasts, adding to the already long list of Google smart devices like the much-anticipated Pixel 7 series and the upcoming Pixel Watch. With that said, there are a ton of new improvements on the way, particularly with the Fitbit Versa 4 and Sense 2.

As reported by the folks over at 9to5Google, it seems that Google has decided to double-down on its product ecosystem not only in terms of hardware, but with visual software elements as well. The user interface for the upcoming Fitbit devices undoubtedly has shades of Wear OS 3 in its visual presentation, which in a way isn’t all that surprising given Google’s acquisition and ownership of the Fitbit brand.

Based on a number of images shown in the report, several UI elements are identical to Wear OS 3, as seen in the Android Studio emulator and Montblanc Summit 3, and revolve around similarly-functioning swipe-based navigation gestures, which is also expected on the Pixel Watch. The new Fitbit UI also seems to take a lot of design cues from Material You, Google’s signature smartphone interface. Pill-shaped buttons are abundant throughout the Fitbit interface, for example.

It doesn’t stop there – it’s also predicted that google Maps and Google Wallet will soon make their way to the new Fitbit devices, further propelling Google’s goal of having a cohesive device ecosystem. Users looking forward to getting their hands on the new wearables will only have to wait a bit more when the devices finally launch this fall.
