Huawei could have a new and more affordable foldable phone in the works
Huawei is no stranger to foldable phones. When the company debuted its first ever foldable, it was crazy expensive, but then again to be fair, foldables aren’t that cheap to begin with seeing as how the tech is still relatively new compared to more traditional smartphone displays.
That being said, the good news for those who wish to own a foldable but don’t want to pay crazy prices, Huawei could have something new in the works in the form of the Huawei P50 Pocket New. This is according to a tweet by @RODENT950 who has shared some potential specs and pricing of the alleged handset.

To get the phone cheaper, it appears that Huawei will be utilizing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset, which is a class below the Snapdragon 888 chipset that was found in 2021’s P50 Pocket. It is also reported that the cover display will be removed, which could reduce overall manufacturing costs, and lastly, the price could be around 710 euros.
What’s interesting about this rumor is that it was previously rumored that Samsung could be planning cheaper foldables as well, and that the company could bring its foldable tech to its A-series of mid-range handsets. Assuming this phone is real, it looks like Huawei could have beaten Samsung to it.
There is no mention of when this new Huawei P50 Pocket New is expected to launch, but seeing as Huawei is still banned from the US, most of us probably wouldn’t be able to get our hands on it anyway.
