Last year, Sony announced the Xperia 5 III, which means that it’s about time that the lineup was refreshed. For those who can appreciate the features of the Xperia 5 series and who don’t want to pay the crazy price tag of the Xperia PRO-I, then you’ll be pleased to hear that the Sony Xperia 5 IV has since been officially announced.
Despite launching in the later part of 2022, it seems that Sony will not be equipping the phone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, but will instead use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Don’t get us wrong, we’re not complaining, but it might be a bit tough to compete against other newer phones that have the newer chipset.
It also comes with features like Eye AF, Object Tracking, and also the ability to capture 4K HDR video and 120fps super slow-motion recording. The front camera is no slouch either with a 12MP sensor that can also capture 4K HDR video, perfect for vloggers.
Speaking of vlogging, the Xperia 5 IV comes with an external monitor function, meaning that the handset can actually double up as an external monitor for a mirrorless camera, giving users a larger 6.1-inch FHD screen to see information on. The display also comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz Motion Blur reduction, and there will be a 5,000mAh battery to top things off.
So, if you’re a Sony fan and want to get your hands on the phone, it will be available in October and will be priced at around $1,000. Customers who pre-order the phone, which will be available from the 1st of September, will also be able to get a pair of Sony’s WF-1000XM4 noise-canceling earbuds.
