Samsung is reportedly testing Google’s next-gen Tensor chipset
Samsung and Google have been working together for years, especially in the early days of the smartphone where Samsung helped to build one of Google’s Nexus handsets. In the more recent years, Samsung has actually been helping out more, such as building Google’s Tensor chipset used in the company’s Pixel 6 phones.
It is expected that Samsung will continue to help Google build and develop its Tensor chipsets, which is why it doesn’t really come as a complete surprise to learn that Samsung has already started to test Google’s next-gen Tensor chipset, according to a report from GalaxyClub.nl.
According to the report, Samsung is actually testing two chipsets, one of which is said to be the Exynos 1380, and the other chipset which has the model number S5P9865. This is believed to be the next-gen Tensor chipset because the first generation chipset had the model number S5P9845, so there is a good chance that this could be the newer model.
Google is expected to announce the Pixel 7 series of phones in the coming months. The phones were confirmed at Google I/O 2022 earlier this year and it is widely believed that the company could introduce a new Tensor chipset that will be powering the handsets, and the model Samsung is testing could be it.
Of course, it’s hard to say for sure if this is the real deal, but like we said, seeing as how the Pixel 7’s launch is pretty close at hand, testing around this time seems about right.
